Career : 1st event was co-driver on the 2003 Malcolm Wilson Stages Rally and 1st event as driver was on the 2004 Malcolm Wilson Stages. 2004 was first full year of rallying competition and finished 3rd overall in the 2004 British Rally Championship at first attempt. Also finished 13th overall on last year’s Wales Rally GB at first attempt.
Non Rallying achievements: Previously won the T-Car motor race championship (for 14-16 year olds) before progressing to single seater motor racing at the age of 16 in the Formula Renault championship in 2003.

After the worst possible start to the season with a massive accident on the first round of the British Rally Championship in Wales, Matthew regained full health with help from the Edinburgh University experts.

Along with Scott Martin they were overall winners of the Trackrod Rally and 2nd of the registered BRC crews on the Ulster Rally, giving Matt 7th overall in the BRC. They also competed on Wales Rally GB in their Eddie Stobart Motorsport Focus WRC, while Matthew took overall victory on the inaugural Rally Ireland.

For 2006 Matthew will be contesting all rounds of the 2006 World Rally Championship as the lead driver for the Stobart VK M-Sport Ford Rally Team. Co-driven by Michael Orr, they have currently finished on the first 2 rounds of the series, Rallye Monte Carlo and the Swedish Rally.
